Can't enter Safe Mode
well,on top of my other woes on this older Toshiba laptop for some reason I can't get it into safe mode. I know in the past, before I reinstalled Windows XP I could get into safe mode OK by repeatedly...

On my Dell desktop, tapping F12 gets me to the boot select screen without entering the BIOS.
As my Toshiba is booting up I see prompts to "push F2 or F12 (I think F12 is to enter the boot menu, IIRC). neither of those keys does anything, whetherholding it down or repeatedly pressing it.
