I've been chasing vermin on computers since the days of DOS. I second the need for MalwareBytes in this case. It's the best tool to remove the sort of thing causing your problem. Like is said, at this point, you'll need to download it to a thumbdrive to install it on your wife's computer. The free version works great - it just doesn't run in the background to protect you all the time. You have set a schedule to run scans with it - other than that it's the same product.
