cell phone signal booster

This is not strictly an RV question, although my TT is parked here at my home and I will be using my phone in it too :).

Here is the issue. I have Straight Talk cell service using Verizon towers. I live on a barrier island so no towers on one side at all ( ocean ). Very weak cell signal. I can drive off the island and all is well. At home it is hit or miss. A lot of times I have to step outside to carry on a conversation.

Is there a signal booster that would help without breaking the bank? Recommendations on the best one for the money would be helpful.

thanks in advance

Off the subject, but I bought a Vantage Vue Weather station (transmitter with instruments on a tower outside & a base station). It has a 800' range from the transmitter to the base station & my neighbors just bought base stations, so I provide weather info for all. I even get calls when the base station indicates the back up battery is dead!

  • Thanks folks, now for some research. Or maybe I can talk my neighbor into buying one :).
  • Installed a home amplifier from WeBoost that we got from Powerful Signal. Now the cell signal is better (by about 30 dBi) in our house than it is outside. I think we paid about $500 for it, but I really don't remember for sure.

  • I have a sleek, but for a 'house' on an island
I would go with one of the small house business units
That covers xx sq ft...comes with two antennas and the amplifier unit
Exterior antenna goes 25 ft into the air inside antenna goes as centrally located as possible, cost around $300
Lookup WeBoost , the name for Wilson amplifies
