Keep in mind that cellular service is limited in northern British Columbia and Yukon, and Alaska for that matter too.
Along the Alaska Highway, there is service in the communities only. For most of the communities, a CDMA compatible phone is required.
3G & 4G will work in Fort Nelson, Watson Lake, Whitehorse and Haines Junction, and in Dawson City on the Klondike Highway. I think they're still upgrading Haines Junction, Watson Lake and Dawson City ... just announced those upgrades a couple of months ago.
This also means that onstar will only work in the communities too.
There is no cellular service along the Cassiar Highway either.
I've heard that Verizon doesn't work well up here at all. Best coverage is by Bell or Telus, so ensure your provider uses one of those.
