Cell phone while traveling in CANADA

What is the best cell phone option for a US citizen traveling in Canada. We will be in Canada on two different months on our Alaska trip.
We will be entering Canada on the west side of Waterton Peace Park and leaving through Vancouver.

Thanks
Richard

  • Contact your cell carrier. Tell them your plans, and they will inform you of your options. When we travel out of the US, we change our coverage during those dates. Works for us.
  • If you are a Verizon customer you can call and add the N. America plan. This allows you to use your existing setup in Canada. That last time I checked it was only about $20/month extra. Just don't try to use any sort of cellular DATA as that is NOT included and will cost you an arm and a leg if you do.
  • I would start looking at coverage maps for the carriers first. There are many pay as you go options; Petro Canada, 7-11, Virgin, Rogers/Fido, Bell, Telus, Presidents Choice, Wind.

Pretty suer the 7-11 Speak out is the cheapest though.
