Who has CB/ ham/ or radio scanners in their vehicles, and why?
I've been considering the three for a while, and ended up ordering a CB setup last night. I don't have a ham license and don't want to get one just yet, though I'm sure if I had a radio I'd rarely if ever transmit.
My primary concerns were traffic and weather information, but I'm an information junkie so am still thinking a scanner might be fun to have.
Interested in what you guys have, and why.
at one time we had CB, ham (VHF/UHF/HF), Family Radio Service HTs and a scanner. we bought a new MH last year and I intend to re-install CB and at least VHF/UHF ham. we continue to carry the FRS and scanner handheld and I intend to re-install the CB and VHF/UHF radios later this year.
we're both hams so that 'splains the ham equipment. the CB is useful for traffic and road conditions. the FRS radios are great for campground/RV parks comms when I'm out walking and I like to listen to the campground or RV park comms...the bigger the park, the more interesting the comms are. also like to listen to natl park service, mil-air and marine comms when near/in a national park or near airports or the ocean.
