When I was younger and drove fast I always had a CB. Since I've quit speeding I don't have one anymore. The language wasn't something I wanted to listen too, let alone my wife and kids.
I do have a 2 meter/ 70 cm dual band ham radio in all of our vehicle. Both my wife and I are licensed. We use it to talk to each other when we're out and about in our area. When I work in out-lying areas with no cell phone coverage my wife can still reach me if she needs too.
When traveling I don't really use the ham radio much. There's just too much going on with the kid's watching a video, the wife talking, GPS giving directions, etc.
It would be nice to have a CB for road conditions I guess but that would require listening to it. If you're in a back-up it's kind of too late to turn it on. Don't expect to get much in the way of traffic or road conditions on a ham radio. They're great for communicating with other amateur radio operators but there's no guarantees you'll be able to find any in the traffic jam ahead of you.
