don't let the nay-sayers scare you off from Cloud backups. Just make sure you research and select a provider who has good reviews and is on solid footing.
As an APPLE user, I have an iCloud account along with Time Machine in the home. My 5 year old MacBook hard drive failed and my Time Machine backup had me back in business in just a few hours after replacing it. I just upgraded my iPhone and the iCloud backup had all my data loaded on to the new phone in 30min, no stress whatsoever.
Just use good password protection strategy and you'll be fine.......
