This is exactly why you cannot get an answer to a question like OP's on a chat board. Everyone has different priorities. So here's mine:
Tablet good for watching videos and sporadic webbing.
But no USB port and small storage limits what I need it for.
And typing on a tablet is a PITA.
Laptops solve those issues, but the really small and portable ones are either very expensive, or poorly equipped.
To me, if you want a good inexpensive computer. a desktop fits the bill. Combine that with a tablet when you need portability and you've covered both issues. But wait for Windows 8.1 in October.
But that's me. Your needs may vary. However, I see little difference in wi-fi-adapters. They all work in Starbucks.
