It is also best to clean out all old routes(trip) and waypoints(favorites) before you open Base Camp with the nuvi connected.
I use Garmin's Mapsource program to plan my routes and then save them as a gpx file on the computer then connect my Nuvi 2557 to the computer and copy the gpx file to the GPX folder on the Nuvi. I tried Base Camp some time back but much prefer MapSource. You can have many gpx files at one time in the Nuvi's GPX folder.
