Computer Won't Shut Down?

A desk top with windows 7 premium home.

Aaaarg, had a shop work on the thing for running slow and locking up. It seems to work OK now except - on shut down it will work its way to the shutting down screen and just stay there and grind until I finally do a force shut down.

Do you think this is something I could deal with.

I am not going back to that shop for another ride.

  • It does take my 7 machine a long time to shut down.
    3 minutes seems like hours.
The advice to let it run it's course is probably good.
Then take it back to the shop.
  • Go to Task Manager then right click on any running task and pick 'end task'

This will shut down any task that might be running and hung up and then should allow you to shut down your computer normally.
  • Not knowing what they did, hard to tell.

    1. My Win 7 Ultra tell me what programs are current running and preventing a shut down. Then ask if I want to force a shut down.

    2. It could be doing an update, defrag or backup. Check your task manager to see what is running.

    3. Let it run overnight (have a good sleep) and see what happens.
