Hi Folks - OP here! Thanks everyone for your thoughts. The Surface Pro 3 seems to stand above the rest and I also appreciate all the comments on tablets and PCs.Thanks too for your comments on related topics like cloud computing and enhancing MIFI capability. Much appreciated.
I currently use a Macbook Pro I7 for most personal work and a very old and now defunct PC for charitable work where a PC is required. I use Dropbox for most of my file sharing. Dropbox also becomes part of my file backup strategy. I have heard that USB hard drives can now be hacked too but I do use several terabyte drives for backups. I also use a bit of the Cloud for non-sensitive files.
The Office product on a PC is actually more powerful then the Mac version, which also plays into my interest in the Surface Pro although I heard the comment about using Excel on a tablet. But if the Surface Pro proves easy (for the DW) to use It may very well wind up in the TV and beyond.
