I'll kick in another vote for Surface Pro 3 - from an Apple guy. I use a MacBook Pro and iPad. I do use a keyboard with my iPad for word processing and light Excel/PPT on the run. A buddy has the Surface Pro and he loves it. Functionality of a laptop with size of a tablet.
Like an earlier poster, I don't completely trust the cloud and my work sends me where there is no connectivity but I've found OneDrive to be very handy for going back and forth between devices. The files also sync to my MacBook so I have local backup and cloud.
