OP again. I'm going to check out the Surface Pro at Best Buy and I'll take a look at the Chromebooks too while I'm there. I worry tho about my spreadsheets which are pretty involved - would Google Apps be able to handle them?
One of the Google apps is called Google Sheets, it's Excel-compatible.
