If you have no interest in a Windows based product then this response can be ignored. I bought a 10" ASUS for my wife and really liked the way it performed. A year later I bought a 13" convertible for myself. I consider it to be a perfect laptop replacement as I am using a full sized keyboard to make this post but I can detach the tablet in 1 second and take it and use it as I please. The keyboard folds into the screen just like a very, very thin laptop.
I am using Win 8.1 without issue and likely will hang in there for awhile. If you are not familiar with either Apple or Microsoft then buy which ever you like (or can afford in the case of Apple). If you are familiar with one platform or the other you should stay with the familiar platform.
