We have Galaxy S8's also:
We just plug the phone into the computer using USB cord... After the computer recognizes your phone - Go the the "Files" folder on your phone and find the pictures your want....then use your mouse to drag and drop the picture you want to copy. We just drag them to our computer desk top and then do what we want to with them from there...
Look in folders that say....DMIC, or Camera to find the pics on your phone that you want...
This only copies the pictures..it does not delete them from your phone.
Works in reverse too ....(computer to phone
