This is what makes me think there is little to no cell phone coverage:

Not sure why it isn't showing, but it is a Verizon Coverage Map
That and the fact that I have driven out in much of the mid West and had previous issues.
The keep an eyesight is a good method, but we may want to discuss pulling over to see something or whatever. The goal is to be able to communicate effectively.
Don't you have to mount CBs in your car and also purchase an antennae? She will have a rental car.
Still thinking walkie talkies are least expensive options...if anyone has recommendations on that or other ideas?
