Trust me...I mean not to offend. I live on a resort island in SC and even here with or without 4G, we have spotty reception along the coastal isles when we are camping at Hunting Island or Skidaway Island.
We will not be on Interstates most of the time.
We are not trying to keep up a running dialogue.
We just want to not be tethered to one another so that my mother can go on ahead of the camper and touch base if she sees some place she would like to stop. With a camper in tow around mountains, not so easy to just turn around and go back to see a sight, etc.
I like to be prepared and make things as effortless as possible. With a bunch of kids in tow, I am thinking about safety and communication, etc.
