yes, IF the radio is a 1/2-watt combination FRS/GMRS radio. if you use a 5-watt GMRS handheld your range will be better but still in the single digits. over flat terrain range on both FRS and GMRS will be better; in the mountains, in heavily forested areas, in cities...any place where there are lots of obstructions the range will be worse.
you already have a pair of FRS/GMRS radios and you're dissatisfied with the range, right?
