Thanks for the info Pete.
This helps a lot.
I bought the DOD LS460W. It was rated at the top on the site I mentioned in the OP. And it was on sale for $100. off the regular price. I paid $229. Cdn$ for it.
I've never been afraid to pay more to get the better quality. I have always maintained the philosophy of an old expression I once heard:
The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
And another one I have always liked is this:
If you want good quality oats you must be willing to pay a fair and reasonable price.
However, if you can be satisfied with oats that have already been through the horse, those come a little cheaper.
I bought a 64 gig card for it and tried it out today. So far I am really impressed with it. Hands down way better than that cheapo $100. London Drugs POS I bought a few years ago.
Still trying to figure out all the features and functions. A learning curve for sure.
But I like what I see so far.
I did visit the DOD website but didn't spend much time there. I will return to read more.
Not overly concerned about battery life as it will always be plugged in to my truck.
And yes, I stay very far away from those cheap units. I got bitten once, never again.
Interesting thing is that I did a ton of research and came up with this unit as you did.
Like you say, you get what you pay for.
Thanks for your input. It was very helpful.
