OTA set-top receiver with built-in DVR and HDMI outputHERE

$32.99 on Amazon but they get mixed reviews on there.

I have one - it works pretty well. Major downside is that you only get about a day's EPG - whatever's in the data stream the TV station is sending, so you need to set up your recordings almost daily. Even when you select a show to record from the guide, it's stored as a time-based recording, so if the show moves, the recording won't follow it. Sometimes screws up recording the same thing every week.I use a 128gb USB stick to record on - the USB doesn't seem strong enough to reliably use an external USB hard drive. And the uncompressed HD data from a 1080p TV station seems to run about 12gb per hour, but I usually offload it to a computer pretty quickly.For ~$30 it's a cheap toy. But I wouldn't use it as my main DVR.Also - the one listed may not be the latest model. Mine is a STB-II. This one just says it's an STB.al

This one says its a STB3500I'm thinking of it more as an RV tool that you can record shows with very little power draw whilst out at the campfire.BTW- everything is compressed, including OTA, it just depends on how hard. Certainly WAY less than the Satellite or cable folks who sometimes are picking up already compressed video off air then doing it again

Can I connect this up to my Dish satellite receiver in the S&B and record programs to watch later in the camper? Thus could be a useful tool if I can.

this does not affect existing equipment,
this is NOT rentals
owners can keep on using them

According to customer reviews and Q&A on Amazon, this does strip out HDCP. One customer who was having issues praised the customer support and gives it 5 stars.

As mentioned earlier the iView 3500STB is an older unit. I have the newer 3500STBII which I bought from Amazon for about $35. It works well after figuring out its quirks. I have used a few different external 2.5" hard drives with it and have had no problems. I have not needed an external power source for any of them. It uses very little power.

I use REPLAYTV Dvrs here (2 of them) I subscribe to Schedules Direct (like 2 bucks a month as I recall) and that gets me the electronic program guides 2 weeks worth.. I can program to record SHOW, or program all shows with ____ in the name or all episodes of show title (complete) or days and hours, or .. Well many programming options,, Record in one room, play in the other, download to laptop or phoen.. You name it, I can do it.

i don't have one YET, and i don't have a Sat reciver
but the home web site says it will work

FYI any laptop running Windows 7 Home, Pro or Ultimate has a built in DVR. You just need a $15 tuner for it to interface the laptop with the antenna. It's called Windows Media Center. Works with OTA stations only - cable tv needs more equipment.

Sadly, Microsoft has killed WMC and it's gone in Windows 10.

Nope.. its for recording off-air only
