I presume you have done a cold boot (complete power down then re-power up) and that you have done a Virus Scan? Those are the first two items I'd check. Next, I assume you're running some flavor of Windows as your operating system? If so, start Task Manager (right click in the launch bar) then look at Processes and see if any are taking 80% of your CPU as that could delay audio (depending upon process priorities).
