Delete All?

Using a iPad w/ IOS 8.1.1 (latest)

Is there any way or tricks to mass delete mail from my inbox?

You can fairly quickly delete mails albeit one at a time by simply swiping the index entry from right to left.

This is actually one of my favorite iPhone functions. I wish Android had something similar? But, then again, there are a few convenient functions missing that my Samsung Galaxy does automatically. Such as popup available devices automatically when activating Bluetooth from the home screen. Or a simple enable/disable mobile data toggle accessible anywhere. Both of which I've been told Apple is supposedly working on incorporating in future releases of iOS.
  • I only have access to an iPad at work. But you can do so in the iPhone. If you open the Inbox, there is an Edit link which when clicked, allows you to check-mark all emails that you want to do a bulk function, such as delete. You may want check if there is something similar in the iPad?
  • I suspect IPad assumes that bulk deletes will be handled by the mail system that you are linked to such as gMail, AOL mail, Yahoo Mail. I have Gmail, Road Runner Mail, both of which auto forward my mail to my ICloud account. The latter is what I have connected to both my IPhone and IPad. If I need to bulk delete email (I don't get that much mail) I go to my PC and sign-in to my icloud account and do the deletes from there.

It would be nice for the IPad app to allow bulk deletes but have yet to find a way.

    I found this...
  • I don't get it. Here, Apple is supposed to be this very progressive company with all the bells and whistles as far as hardware goes, yet their software won't even offer a person the basic functionality offered by Windows (gasp!) or Android (gasp!)

Is this something that they've overlooked or decided that their users don't need?
  • Not that I'm aware of. It was a couple years ago that I was looking for a way to do it. I found nothing, so I am in the habit of deleting emails as they come in.
