That way you can choose to download them when you are connected by some means other than limited bandwidth. I personally don't care for my computers doing anything without my knowledge.

AMEN! If you're not willing to control your machine, they'll happily do it for you. Just don't think you'll have anything that's usable or efficient. It's called personal responsibility, and if you're not willing to take the time to learn how to do it, you'll continue to have problems.
