I wouldn't assume you can update anything loaded in the past couple of days. Computers usually with a version of the operating system, some utilities and antivirus software protection that may be weeks or months old. The updates to these programs can be critical to keeping your system safe from viruses and hackers. Antivirus updates come out almost daily and operating system updates often monthly or less if it is a critical update. The names of the updates are not always easy to identify. You can turn off automatic updates but I would not do it for the operating system or antivirus software.
