DELL PRECISION T7500 WORKSTATION Replacement

My DELL PRECISION T7500 WORKSTATION is showing signs of been "sick". I have replaced the Win 7 - 64 OS's Hard Drive. The PC is still sick. I am getting Fan and memory errors. I have swapped memory and fans. I am looking for a replacement. My specifications are:

1. Used (eBay) Dell tower in the 2.8 to 3.3 Ghz range. I will do the free upgrade from my Win 7 - 64 ultra to Windows 10.

2. Space for 4 SATA HDs plus 3 additional SATA ports on the mother board. In the additional 3 ports on my T7500 I have a CD drive plus 2 more SATA hard drive mounted in the front of the PC. This give me 6 HD. Each HD is 2Tb.

3. I have 12 Gb of memory.

Can anyone suggest a good replacement??? . . :h
  • I can not fathom needing 12 terra bytes of data. What do you do?
  • Why not another Dell workstation? ... or check out the HP Z600 or Z800 - very nice workstations, lots of drive bays and room for huge power hungry video cards. 12gb of ram in a z800 would barely even register, I believe they're rated for 384 - 768GB of ram.
  • Why not swapin a refurb motherboard? That tower is pretty easy to swap.
  • I'd just get a new mobo/processor that is compatible with your memory, or possibly get new memory too depending on what kind you have vs. today's standards/prices.

I built a desktop PC when Windows XP launched in 2001. THe only original component I have left is the case. I have replaced everything inside at least once. Each time I consider replacing the whole thing, I find it is much cheaper to selectively replace parts to get the comparable performance.

Since I full time, I have my complete CD/DVD music and movies on HD plus backup of all

That is an option; however, I can purchase a used workstation on eBay for about $250 and them sell my old T7500 for parts for $100+. This will allow me to upgrade for the old T7500 to a more current workstation with a more up-to-date motherboard. The problem is I do not know which (new to me) workstation will allow me to install the 6 HDs. . . :h

Wal*Mart black friday add shows a HP I think it's 15" 500 Gig HD, fairly impressive CPU 4 Gigs Ram 200 bucks. You can pre-order on Thursday on-line.. I'm going to (Have a friend who seriously needs a Christmas Gift)

Store opens 10PM Thursday for Black Friday.. I will not set foot in the store on Thrusday and highly recommend you do not either.. Shop via computer (They do not celebrate holidays with family) or shop Froday 7:30 is a good time to shop Wal*Mart on black Friday or has been for me in the past.. But I'll likely do it Online and go to Store later.
  • Have you replaced the power supply? First thing I would look at. Especially loaded down like you have yours. They do get weak over time.
Before laptops were cheap, I've built quite a few systems. Problem was, If I built one for someone else, I was married to it whenever something went wrong. I learned that laptops greatly decreased my phone calls for support since I didn't build it.
