Desktop suggestions

The old Vista computer is slower than molasses in winter. I'll use some Christmas money and get a new tower with Windows 8. I only use it to pay bills and the occasional Word or Excel.

Price point has me looking at one with a Pentium i3 processor with 4 gb of ram.

For the PC gurus out there, will the above specs be enough horsepower for the relatively light use?
  • Right now I am using a laptop that is 4 feet from me,which goes traveling with us, using a regular keyboard and mouse and a 28 inch screen. Due to out growing my drive storage, I have 3 external drives to use for storing information on and backing up to. I will take the smallest external with me when traveling as well as mouse. I do not have a desk in the RV, but use a large drafting 2 x 3 as a table, that I can put on my lap, or set on plastic milk crates as a table.

For internet service, all libraries have good WiFi.
