You will find people who have move from DirecTV to Dish and you will find people who have moved from Dish to DirecTV. Both tend to be very happy with their new provider. I guess it's always greener on the other side. I have been with DirecTV for 14 years and have never had an issue that a phone call did not correct. Don't expect the customer service to be any better at Dish. They still hire the same CSR's that read a script and they have the same computers that make the same errors.
