Direct TV almost got me to switch. But when the tech came out to the house to make the changeover, I showed him my list of five "must haves" that two different customer service people had assured me were covered.
The tech went over each one. Bottom line, three and a half of the five were not going to happen. I've heard of other people being mislead. It seems Direct will say anything to get a commitment.
But do your own due diligence. Find a Dish and a Direct tech and ask about the quality of Direct's all new equipment.
Dish will lease or sell you a receiver for a Tailgater. If you purchase the receiver you will only be charged for the time you have it activated. You must buy the Tailgater. Setup takes five minutes plus the time to download programming, maybe another 15 minutes. If you are out of your home TV area, a call to Dish will get you the locals for your location.
