A story: With the switch to HD and it's line of sight and reduced distance reception failed for numbers of SF bay residents. Virtually all stations transmit from Sutro towers in SF. The FCC solution was to raise the Sutro tower to 977' for improved bay area reception. Pretty clear implication that analog TV programming was going to fade in the future.
