Direct TV home/on the road

We stopped Direct TV in the coach last year because thy would only put it on vacation one a year now. We were paying for several months with it sitting in storage.
We have an extra box we are paying for at home.
Can we simply take the card and put it in the coach receiver. It is a Hughes circa 2006 that came with coach.
Or can w euse thee new box from home? I am wondering if connections are even the same type?

It sounds like you have DirecTV service at your home. If so,as mentioned above, you cannot move a card between receivers. However, you can simply move an entire receiver from your house to the RV when you travel. No need for an extra box. If you don't want to deal with that the extra box only costs $7/month so it's not a major expense. You could even stop service on that one box when no in use but keep the account active for home use.
  • We pick up an extra box we have in the house and take it with us whenever we are going to be some place for over 3 days. (If it's less than 3 days, it's just too much of a hassle and we don't need TV anyway.)

Thy told us we could only out it on vacation twice a year. Otherwise, we would have kept it and it would be on vacation until net month.
Not much quality tv let, by my definition, so perhaps some other useful pursuit will come out of it.
We like company and cards, even though I'm no good at it.
I may have to figure out how to wireless link and stream from our laptops.

If you have two direct tv accounts you can put each one on vacation 4 times each year - I have done this for years
  • No. The cards are receiver specific. But, I dont understand why you dont drop one reciever and simply take your home box with you? Been doing that for years with no problems.
  • Cards should be the same.
We just move an operable receiver from the house to the rig.
