Direct TV Satellite Aiming in Canada

Heading to Banff and Jasper AB. in the spring. We have Direct TV and use a dish on a tripod. Has anyone used Direct in Canada and know what are the settings for the satellite dish in this area?

I got DTV all the way to Fairbanks, Alaska.
  • You might want to read your contract with AT&T, terms of service, section 1 subsection N.
  • We were unable to pick up Direct TV more then 50 miles north of border.
  • We have used Dishpointer for years. Just be sure to select the particular satellite you want and use the magnetic azimuth not true. We have received DTV reception in both of those parks. It's just a little more difficult getting a clear shot to the satellite due to the low elevation settings - less than 30°

Need to know which dish you are using. If your dish is a round 18" I doubt you will get a useable signal in Banff, much less in Jasper.
  • You probably wont fiend any for CA. What you can do is pick the nearest USA zip code and start there. Depending on how far north you are, you will likely have to drop the elevation some. Even in southern Canada the elevation is going to be pretty flat.
