Two Answers, NO and 'Sort of'.
First the NO: DirecTV used a "Dual LNB" this means it can receive both clockwise and counter clockwise polarity at the same time, NOT Two LNBs (two LNBs is a Twin)
This is NOT what a dual LNB does. The single and dual LNB's receive both polarities but the single LNB has only 1 output and the dual LNB has 2 outputs.
It can receive ONE and only ONE satellite either DirecTV's 101, or one of the 3 that Dish uses (110,119,127)...129 actually Dish receivers are smart enough to figure it out and talk to it.. BUT... you won't be happy having to go out and aim it every time you change channels.
The newer SWM DirecHDTV antennas.. I'm not sure Dish can figure those out. Not sure? A Dish receiver would never work with a DirecTV SWM LNB.
A DISH Triple (3 LNBs) Dish type antenna can see all 3 Satellites at one time, and can feed
1: receiver
1 (or more) Dual/Multi channel DVRs
2 Or more Receivers
or a combination of Receivers and DVR's
Now... If you have a SINGLE receiver (IE: VIP-211) then a DOME type antenna (roof mounted or a portable "Cube" or Dome type antenna.. can (if it is the correct model) respond to the Receiver's request and see all 3 birds.... only one at a time.
I recommend the Triple Dish for best results but if you want an automatic antenna on the roof.> Well again the DISH 1000 works with multiple channel devices or multiple recivers.. Most any dome with a single VIP-211
NOTE Unless you buy your receiver at camping world or some such.
What does this mean. Nothing changes with Dish or DirecTV if you buy from Camping World or anyone else.
A standard DISH install INCLUDES a 1000.x Antenna (the x depends on where you live) and it will fit on your existing mount.. Just remove the DIRECTV antenna. Also DirecTV may ask for their LNB back.
