I too use both bank billpay services and autopay.
As the previous poster pointed out, some companies require that they be able to auto-charge a credit card. The easy solution for this is to use a service such as B of A's Shop Safe where you get vendor credit cards that apply to your standard credit card account. We use those all the time for any company that requires autopay against a card. If we want to quit the company we cancel "their" credit card. To keep tabs on them, we set them all to expire in a year and when we get a notice they are expiring we extend them another year if we are keeping the service.
