We are locked into DirecTV with our roof HD antenna.
I've often thought about canceling DirecTV and putting the account in my name. Then after 2 years, put it back in DH's name. But in the end it sounded like too much of a hassle and too many used receivers to deal with. Plus having to redo a Travelers account to get the DNS stations each time, we may lose some channels. I find those work fine for our 2 DVR's and getting enough shows taped, we aren't anxious to upgrade to the Genie.
For discounts, when I read about the last price increase earlier this year, I had DH call and try to lower our plan. The CSR asked if it was because of the money. Obviously, he told her yes and so she looked up all the discounts she could and found us $47 worth. Plus the $10 DVR credit, it usually totaled $57. This month, it ended and as soon as we get to the next stop, he'll call to reduce the pkg and see what they offer.
