I've talked to about 8 different people so far plus exchanged E-mails with them, from Regular Rep's to supervisors and mid-management...all of them say, I'm sorry, but our hands are tied. I am quite aware of the DNS you can get for an RV but as far as waivers go on my old "grandfathered" in contract....they simply will NOT EVEN submit them. At this time, its a no brainer for me...why would I stay with Direct after being lied too....plus Direct is not going to offer any kind of FREE up-grades. We enjoyed the East/West coast feeds and these services are readily available through a third Party with Dish, on the other hand, Direct still wants Hoops to be jumped through.
I've done some research, there are ways to submit waivers on your own but why should I have to? I had the service I wanted and any one with half a brain at Direct could have looked at their computer screen, observed the long standing "DNS service" and would have NEVER put those in question. Oh well, live and learn. I have no visions of Grandeur, I'm sure Dish has the same mind set once your on board but as I stated, I have nothing to lose, money to be saved, more features, more channels, HD service to be gained by switching. I was just wondering about others experience with both Direct and Dish.....so once again, Thank you for all the replies.
Before I get started, please be aware that I don't care what you do and I am not defending DirecTV.
Now, if you want DNS DirecTV has always required that you fill out and send in a waiver form. You have never been able to get the service by making a phone call.
Here is a link to the DirecTV site with the necessary form information.
DirecTV DNS WaiverWhile DirecTV's current policy is that you can only get the E or W DNS based solely on which State your RV is registered you may also be able to get your grandfathered E and W DNS service restored after you get DNS reinstated. Others are reporting this option including one person who got a call from DTV asking if when he signed up did he want just one or both?
Lastly, if you fax it in instead of mailing you can expect service in 24-48 hours in many cases.
