Ignore the post above. You are paying for the one receiver and simply using the one receiver in different locations. Nothing wrong with that.
As far as auto vs manual, I have both (but I have Dish). There have been times I got the manual tripod mounted dish aimed quickly. Other times I almost gave up before finally getting it after multiple tries. I have read that Directv may be a little easier to aim. But my auto Tailgater takes all the effort out of it.
