It is the RECEIVER!!!!!! folks. If the RECEIVER!!!! is not connected to the satellite and plugged into power (it doesn't have to be turned On) it will inactivate itself. DirecTV sends a signal set to each and every authorized receiver periodically. If the RECEIVER!!! is not connected, it doesn't get the update and inactivates itself.
Once the RECEIVER!!!! is connected again, it displays a message saying it needs to be activated. You can either call DirecTV or you can logon onto their website using your userid and password and "activate" the RECEIVER!!! yourself.
