This is a bug and will be fixed. It takes time but it will be fixed. This issue is costing DIrectv lots of support time. My dad spent two hours with two different techs identifying the problem. In the mean time your only choice is to either do without your playlist ( when you can't get a signal), or leave your DVR on all the time while traveling( not recommended). Once this bug is fixed you will be able to kill power, then restart and watch prerecorded programming, even without a satellite connection.
I went through three DVRs in my old motor home before I realized that the plug to the DVR is always hot. A couple of good potholes and the HD would be damaged. I finally installed a switch to kill the DVR. When the DVR is off, the HD "parks" the heads so they can't damage the media. When running the only thing separating the heads and the media is a cushion of air created by the spinning media. It still can take some bumping but not nearly as much as when the heads are parked and the media is not spinning.
