DirecTV Genie Receiver

I currently have a HD-DVR model HR24-200 with a Motosat HD SL5 automatic antenna on the roof. I want to upgrade to the Genie HD DVR.
Does anyone have a Genie working with the Motosat antenna? Does it require extra hardware like a power inserter, B band converter, other stuff?
Thanks for any info.

The Genie is SWM only. I suspect your Motosat is Multiswitch? If so, that's the first thing you need to deal with.
  • As mentioned above, the Genie REQUIRES the new DirecTV SWM technology. You can update you MotoSAT with the SWM8 switch and a 28/29V power inserter but since the Nomad cannot use the SWM signal you also have to add a multi-switch (6X8 I believe) so you can run the 4 outputs from the base of the antenna to the multi-switch, 4 outputs from the multi-switch to the SWM8 switch and then a 5th cable from the multi-switch to the Nomad. As long as you current have at least 2 cables running from the MotoSAT to the Nomad and your current receiver you will not need to run any new cables inside, only add some hardware and cabling to the roof.
You can get the best detailed information on this update at www.datastormusers.com . You will find many MotoSAT dealers and users there.
