Curious..I just looked at the Houston contour up in Dallas, and its ~3db stronger than the LA contour in Quartzsite
Some are bigger than others and CA is certainly one of those areas with very large footprints in some areas. I am currently in Dallas, TX and the Houston locals are not available (300 miles). - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IISome are bigger than others and CA is certainly one of those areas with very large footprints in some areas. Jeff, howabout a link? I'm guessing a guy in your biz would know where the shapefiles are.
There are actually a few out there, some easier than others.
SATBEAMS is one but it takes awhile to get used to driving it. Its not much fun on an iPad tho.
THIS ONE is the .kmz file site the runs under Google Earth. This is whats posted above and way easier to deal with Its allot of files but that are all small. I downloaded most of them and just tossed them into a Sat Footprints folder in GE. Some of it is several years old but it appears he's still maintaining updates.
BTW- As CA TRAVELER notes he can see the SFO footprint 700 miles away. I can see the LA footprint easily in Quartzsite (a mere 300 miles) with RCL's on the 90's. Don't let them tell you it stops at the end of a zip code - chuckbearExplorer

DTV spotbeam locals
This map is decades old but always comes up in Google searches. The dbstalk Google Earth map interface is the best. After installing Google Earth, simply download the kmz file to your desktop and click it open. Google Earth will open with the file overlayed. Chuck - greenrvgreenExplorerJeff, howabout a link? - SCVJeffExplorerIf you look in the right places you can also find .kmz files showing OTA TV Station contour maps for GE

Here you are.... You really NEED to install Google Earth. It has so many uses for RVers that you will wonder how you ever got along without it! - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIHere you are....
