Directv-multiple receivers with Wineguard Trav'ler

Our new 5th wheel is being delivered soon and we will have a Winegard Trav'ler installed and want to use Directv as our provider. We previously had another 5th wheel with Winegard/Directv and did not have to get a receiver for each tv, but have been told that we now will have to. I think we had 2 receivers before for 4 televisions. Any suggestions or info that can help us before we make a mistake before ordering our equipment? Thanks very much.

  • Get a wireless Genie and a slave for each TV you have. The only problem then will be locating the wireless bridge. But a good installer should have no problem with that
  • If you listen to Don's suggestion you will only need one receiver with one wire from the roof and it will all work, easy peasy! If you are full timers that also means if your one receiver dies you don't get any TV on any TV. If you happen to already have 2 wires being run from the roof inside, then I would get a Genie plus an H25 plus the 2 wireless Genies and all TV's will be able to watch any programing (recorded or live) plus you will have an emergency back up with the H25 so at least you can watch TV on one of the 2 TV's until you replace your Genie.
  • Thanks for the help, folks. One more question....will we be able to watch different shows on all of the different televisions? We were able to in our last 5th wheel with 2 receivers, but are being told now that we will have to watch the same on all 4 televisions or get 4 receivers. Getting more and more confused!
  • If you have a Genie and 3 additional wireless clients you will be able to watch 4 different channels on 4 different TV's. You are getting information about what you would be restricted to if you had only 1 receiver. You might find that 2 TV's could get programming from 1 receiver and 2 other TV's could get programming from another and this would save you the $6 per receiver monthly add-on. However, if you really need to watch 4 different channels on 4 different TV's at the same time then you need 4 different receivers.
