DirecTV on the road.
For the past several years I have been using the old round dish and old receiver. The receiver just went out. I was wondering what my options are now as far as dish and receiver. Thank you.

Since I always set up my own sat antenna dish as well I would purchase the same satellite antenna that was mounted on our home, usually no more than $50 online. With Directv I take the HD receiver from our bedroom since Directv doesn't like to sell their equipment. With Dish network we purchased the VIP receivers for under $70 which were intended for RV use.
When we went from the 18" round Directv SD antenna dish to the larger HD sat antenna many moons ago I thought it would be much more difficult to point, truth be known it takes no longer than the standard set-up. Unless there is some significant foliage or other obstruction to the southern skies, we are up in running in 10 minutes, most of that is setting up tripod.
