Directv, Sunday Ticket, and no house... possible?

I've searched the forums like crazy and can't find a solid answer. Can I set up Directv (we have cable now) at my current house (which is being sold), take the dish and box along when we start fulltiming, and just change my account address to a PO Box somewhere? Will Sunday Ticket work without a landline? Will using an address in a different state set THAT local area as my Sunday Ticket blackout region, allowing me to still receive my home state team's games?
  • No, it does not. DirecTV and DNS will work with any existing satellite TV antenna. If you want DirecTV HD then you must have an open face antenna mounted on a tripod that you manually point (cheap) or an automatic roof mounted antenna like the Trav'ler (expensive).

Oh! I was under the impression that I had to buy a roof antenna! We had DirecTV until just recently, with HD, so our dish should work then? I guess I need to investigate the RV service then!

    Thanks everyone!
  • So, their website says that the seasonal sport packages aren't available with the RV service
  • I suspect that this means you cannot have DNS and Sunday Ticket since they would not be able to determine your location and whether they needed to black out the game. If you don't need DNS (use your over the air TV antenna for locals) then there should not be any issues.
  • One other thing...I have Directv and also have east/west network feeds...I also have NFL package and use all in my Idaho home, my az home and my MH...I also have over the air antennas for local channels..I just move the receivers with me as i go...:C
  • I have the Wingard Traveler for HD that I use when I am stopped. I have an in-motion Kingdome when we are on the road. You cannot get HD on the Kingdome. So, I have two HD DVRs and two standard DVRs. On both systems, I get the Baseball pictures. I have to use the house zip code for service.

No issues with blackouts? I've read both ways, that local nfl game blackouts are based on your current location (determined by gps), but I've also read that it goes based on your billing info zip code. Which is the case for you?
