Now I am confused. SK-3003 is not for DTV? I was told the Winegard SK-3003 was for DTV, not Dish. The previous owners had DTV and when I bought the rig and DTV it worked last year after about 10 calls to DTV & Winegard.

I just tried the 01: Round 18", multiswitch, single without B-Band converter and no luck.

Guess I will have to wait until Tuesday when Winegard opens for business again.

Although I'm jumping in here late, I think the correct dish type will be Slimline 3 with Multiswtich as the switch type. There will be no B-Band converters needed because, as has already been stated, those are for HD reception in non-SWM setups.

Yes, the SK3003 is definitely for DTV, but DTV doesn't care who makes your dish, all their equipment wants to know is what kind of LNBs it has and what's it's shape. By telling it you have a Slimline 3 your are defining the type of "stuff" that your SK3003 has.

Thanks everyone. Turns out per Winegard the SK-3003 you should use Dish Type 03: Slimline-3; Switch Type: 02-Multiswitch and Tuners: Single. Watching NCAA now. Good game on 1080i. Signal strength is 97.

There is NO need to go to SWM unless you upgrade your DirecTV hardware (i.e. Genie). Any receiver with a number H25 or higher requires the SWM technology. You DO NOT need to update just to record as the HR24 will work and allow you to watch 1 channel and record another but you will have to run a second coax from the antenna to the receiver (or update to SWM and use the one existing cable for both tuners). I would go Genie if I was that, but it's all about choices.

The HR24 can be used with either a multiswitch dish or SWM dish and we used it to upgrade first the RV to SWM then later at home using only this receiver.

Then with SWM we now have the HR44 which is SWM only and we don't have a Genie Client receiver. What we like is the ability to record 5 channels at once. We very rarely watch live shows and instead watch a recorded show and skip over the commercials. Plus we have recorded shows waiting even if we're in trees. We had a month of overlap with both the HR24 and HR44 both on SWM and found it interesting that we could then record/watch 7 channels.

The transition from home to RV is seamless - plug and play. All settings, recordings, etc are the same. One TV is 720 and one 1080. Since both are HDMI the HR44 detects this and automatically changes the resolution.

We got an upgrade to SWM on our SK3005 when we ordered a Genie. We had an RV-friendly installer and he did it all for us at no cost. Because we didn't have a current contractual commitment, we got the Genie at no cost also. Depending on your circumstances you might want to try something like that.

The upgrade itself is not a big deal $$ wise. You can buy all the necessary parts for <$75 on Amazon and elsewhere.

Thank you very much for the heads up....I don't do any recording at home or when camping, so guess at this time, it's not anything I really need to do..

I saw on here where someone stated that Winegard helped one of the posters on here get the upgrade....Wonder if they'll do that for some of us who have own the Travler sk3005 without having to spend a lot of money to get the upgrade, (should I want to record some programs in the future).
