From these posts is these statements true? 1.)I can take the HD24 DVR from home replacing the D12 in the RV, run 2 coax cables from King Controls VuQube Flex and I can get HD channels and record? 2.)I can use a Genie and do the same thing and be able to record more channels? 3.)I can pay the extra dollars and subscribe to Distant Network Services and get the East Coast major networks?
Not only NO but heck NO, The Flex will get you DirecTV in SD not HD. You might need B-Band adapters depending on the DTV receiver. You will only be able to record on one channel and cannot watch a different channel while recording.
If you get a regular Slimline dish with a 3 LNB head you will have DTV HD in your rig. With the proper gear you could have a SWM setup just like at home and be able to record five programs with the Genie. The issue is setup. Each time you park and want DTV you will need to set up the tripod with the dish, get it aimed then hook up to the receiver(s). SWM is even more complicated.
I want HD programming but I am not good at aiming the dish. For this reason I recently purchased a King Flex. Next week I will be switching to Dish Network at the house after six continuous years of DTV. Our DTV has been excellent but Dish gives me HD in our RV without setup issues for about half the cost. Dish sold me two ViP211z receivers for $49 each. While I really think the Genie is the best DVR I am hoping the Hopper will be equal or better.
Each time we were on the road I called DTV to suspend service in the house and give them the address where we were in the RV. TheY gave us locals.
