Dish for my RV

I gave in and upgraded to the Hopper, bought the 211Z so I could turn it on and off. Added the $7 a month to my account for the months I use it.

Since we have Dish at home the easiest way is to just buy the 211, tailgater and pay the 7.00 per month and keep it on the same account as home. I love easy and this is.

Don/Lou, we too have the Dish "Pay as you Go" service and were to told to use the words: "Activate" to commence service and to contact the Loyalty Department within DISH and use the word "Cancel" when we wish to turn off service. No pause, activation, deactivation, vacation fee involved. Just the agreed-on fee for the type of programming we choose. Works great for us.

The term I was told to use was CANCEL-CANCEL my PAYG account

The plan is called Pay-as-you-Go. I bought the Tailgater/211k combo in Quartzite In Jan.

When we got home we had a half-month left on our 3rd monthly period. We called Dish and had the account/211k DISCONNECTED. You must say disconnect, not suspend, hold, wait, vacation or anything else. Per Dish, we have a $42 credit.

On our next trip we will need to call and top-up by paying the difference for a new monthly period.

Rinse and repeat. This is pay for what you use.

Yes. It is more expensive, per month, for the intro period (12 months) than a discounted offer. They offer no discounts for the service. If you are only using Sat for 6 or less months, the savings in in the 6 months you do not use the dish as you pay nothing for those months. I use between 4-5 months a year.

I posted that I have DISH in my home but am thinking of cancelling and going back to Cox Cable. Now I take my 211 out of the house to use in the RV so I don't need to get another box.
I can get a Cox package a little cheaper than I pay for DISH but with the price of pay as you go may not be worth it to me. After the replies, looks like I may be better off leaving it like it I am set up now.

As far as the pay as you go, since I own my receiver, I can call in and de-activate the account and re-activate to turn it back on. The key is to say de-activate and not suspend. I use dish during the summer months only. I will be re-activating on May 1st and then use the service until Oct 1 when I de-activate while the MH is in storage for the winter. Never had a problem with dish. No monthly $5 fee for suspending. I use this method because I have Comcast at home and only have satellite in the MH

We have had Dish at home for many years. 2 years ago we bought a Tailgater and 211k receiver for the RV. Did not want to have to move them back and forth every time we went somewhere. It added $7/month to our home account.
Have always had great sevice and no problems with Dish.
