Dish Hopper GO

Has any one used the new Dish HOPPER Go. I got one and am very diisponined how it works. I thought it would work with any portable device like a laptop, IPad or other devices. From my experinace and long talk with a dish. Tech person it will only work with device that uses apps. Any thoughts.
We are be at a camp ground that has poor HiFi and hardly any cell service and thought this would be a good way to watch movies that we have on our DVR that we could use with a laptop and play on the TV
  • Thanks for the replays. I tried a new laptop and got the GO to work. I had tried 2 older ones and maybe there is something differnt with the wi if radio, happy camper now
    Thanks
    Dan
  • I also can use my Hopper go with my laptop. You need the Dish anywhere player.
    Try these steps.
    1. connect to http://www.dishanywhere.com/
    2. click on DVR
    3. click on HopperGO
    4. you will get prompted to either launch or download the Dish anywhere player to connect to your hopper go
5.you should now get prompted that once the Dish Anywhere player launches you will be disconnected to your current wifi connection and then connected to the hopperGO network.
6.You could make are shortcut to the Dish Anywhere player onto your desktop. It is located on your laptop at C:\Program Files (x86)\DishAnywherePlayer.exe just left click on it an make a shortcut to your desktop or taksbar.
Then I can then just connect via wifi to the HopperGo network and then launch the player and be connected to the HopperGo

This works for me. But, It seems that sometimes they want your to "authenticate" to the dishnetwork over the internet before they allow you to use the HopperGo.
  • The app for windows now supports Hopper Go so you can plug in the computer to the TV with a HDMI cable then turn on the Hopper Go. Works great.
  • I have the hopper go and what I did is use it off my samsung s3 phone. I bought a cable the connects to my phone charge port and has a usb cable on it that I connect to the tv.and stream it from my phone to the tv.It works pretty good using the dish anywhere app. You have to have a newer t.v. that has usb ports on the back of them.
  • I have the DishAnywhere app that the GO uses on my Android phone, my Android tablet, and both of my laptops dual booting Win 8.1 and PCLinux. The app is also available on iTunes for iOS devices...
  • My bro n law just hooks his DVR up to tv and watches movies he has recorded. He has dish and takes DVR out of his house.
