DISH Network Account Balance Credit Disappears !!

For those of you with a DISH Network Pay-As-You-Go account, that might be on disconnect with a credit balance in your account, you may want to check your July statement. My account had a $39 credit balance in it from the last time I stopped my DISH service. Then on my July statement I noticed that my credit balance had disappeared. After a 20 minute phone call to DISH I found out they now have a new policy that if the account has a credit balance for longer than 90 days their computer simply charges your account for "Services" in the amount of the credit balance and zeros out your account!!! After pointing out that this is illegal they graciously re-credited my account with the $39. So, if you have a credit balance CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS!!!

  • I had the same thing happen to me. It was 7 or 8 dollars. They did reapply the credit to my account after complaining to them. Had to get a supervisor on the line
  • I have let my Dish Pay as you go account sit dormant for 6 months or more at a time and they have never done that to me.

    Federal Trade Commission maybe ?

    I HATE Dish. H A T E with a passion.

I'm really glad that you got them to back down.
Having dealt with them off and on for over 20 years, I have never gotten them to bend on anything; and if you ask to speak to a supervisor, they just laugh.
    FCC
They are the ones that grant the license as well as regulate them

  • Other companies do that, as well, on small amounts. I didn't know they could do it on $39.

I had a store-specific card that had a 99 cent credit zeroed out after six months of non-activity. On the opposite side, I ended up with 8 cent "small account credit" on another charge card once. They explained that it would have cost more than that to generate a bill.

$39 seems like alot to lose.
