DISH Network Tailgater Question

New to the forum. That's for taking the time to answer my question.

I was wondering if anyone knew if there were restrictions on HOW MANY dish tailgater satellite/receiver combos I could add to my account.

The technology is a good fit for me, but I need to be able to tune two different TVs on occasion, so I'd need two setups. I'd be switching over to DISH, so before I make that leap, I wanted to check to see if anyone ever had issue with connecting multiple tailgater setups to a single account.

Thanks,

Mel

There is a practical limit, but if your account is good for say 4 rooms.. there you are.. Rooms = Receivers, Tailgaters are not counted, only receivers.

Two Tailgaters and a 2-channel DVR, or Well at most you need 3 tailgaters. But if you go with that many there are lower cost alternatives.
  • why not go with the pathway x2? it will handle two receivers off one satellite.

If you have Dish as your residential sat provider, and have some combination of Hoppers and Joeys on your account, Dish will only allow one VIP211 series receiver/Tailgater on that account. You can of course set up a separate account for the receivers used with multiple Tailgaters, at a much higher cost.

    WRONG!

I have a Hopper /w Sling plus two Joeys at home. Also have two ViP211k in the RV. Just switched from DirecTV last month. Both ViPs were sold to me directly by Dish for $49 each. I also bought a King Flex dish. I pay $7 a month per ViP211k for service. The King Flex will operate in Tailgater mode or several other modes and supports TWO receivers. The Flex directions do not recommend attaching two receivers in Tailgater mode. I called King tech support and was told YES, you can hook up two in Tailgater mode. As we sit in this campground we do have the two ViP211k running off the Flex in Tailgater mode.
  • So, if I understand you can only have one receiver (211K) with so many Joeys? I had the Hopper installed and I now have 3 Joeys, and also a previously purchased 211K in another location. They took my rented 211K that I used in my basement living room. So I have one 211K on my account, now I need one to go with me in the camper, are they going to allow another purchased one on the account at like $7, or do they force you to go with a RV account? Just wondering, as camping season is coming soon. Thank you.
